Choosing
laser vision correction is a personal choice. The reasons vary from individual
to individual.
- Potential candidates
must first be motivated to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses
and contacts.
- Candidates must
realize the benefits and quality of life that follow Laser Vision Correction.
- Candidates must
be at least 18 years or older that have maintained a stable prescription
for at least one year. Certain
health conditions such as pregnancy, diabetes, and autoimmune disorders
can prevent you from being a good candidate and will be discussed at
your examination.
- If you wear bifocals,
trifocals, and/or have astigmatism you most likely are a good candidate
for LASIK.
- People
typically close to age 40 and older who wear glasses ONLY for reading
are not a good candidate, as LASIK cannot stop the aging process of
the lens. This is
called Presbyopia.
- When
you come in for your free consultation and examination, Dr. Caruso and
our certified staff will perform a comprehensive evaluation and a complete
eye exam to determine if you are a good candidate.
This examination also allows you the opportunity to discuss your
concerns with the doctor and to learn about other patient experiences.
